PLEYTO, Monterey County — October 2026. For residents and travelers approaching Lake San Antonio’s North Shore through the Pleyto and Bradley area, county officials have published an updated visitor operations schedule. On the County of Monterey’s Lake San Antonio page, the hours listed effective May 2026 show the North Shore entry gate and mandatory boat inspection operations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Sunday.
North Shore versus South Shore: don’t assume the same schedule
The county lists a different schedule for South Shore, where the staffed entry gate and boat inspection operations are shown as Thursday through Monday, 7 a.m.–7 p.m., with Tuesday and Wednesday closures for those functions. By contrast, North Shore is shown as operating the gate and inspections all seven days. These are published operating schedules, not a guarantee that staffing, lake levels or launch conditions will be unchanged on a particular trip.
Inspection is mandatory for vessels
County guidance states that boat inspection is required and warns that vessels without a current inspection certificate are subject to a $2,000 fine. Boaters should obtain information about aquatic invasive species inspection, launch eligibility and any reservoir-level restrictions before towing a boat to the lake. A gate being open does not necessarily mean every launch ramp is usable.
What if the entry gate is unstaffed?
The county says it uses an Iron Ranger self-pay envelope process when the entry gate is not staffed. That is not permission to bypass inspection rules or disregard posted fees. Overnight campers should confirm camping and reservation details separately. Lake San Antonio offers camping, shoreline activities, fishing and boating, but access may be affected by weather, maintenance and reservoir conditions.
Where can Pleyto-area residents check updates?
Before setting out, consult the county’s Lake San Antonio park page for current hours, boat-launch information and water-level links. The Parks reservation section lists the North Shore at 2091 New Pleyto Road, Bradley, CA 93426. The exact site and road-access information should be checked against county notices, especially after storms or roadwork.
